Paper Conservation and Recycling

Double sided printing:
The easiest way to reduce your paper usage is to use double-sided printing. Since every department and area has
at least one multifunction Canon printer, here are instructions on how to enable double-sided printing:
- Go to File - Print in the program that you want to print from.
- Click on the Properties button to the right of your printer.
- On the properties button that comes up, click on the Finishing tab.
- In the Finishing tab under Print Style, choose 2-sided Printing.
Other ways to reduce paper usage:
- Only print out what's necessary. If you're going to a meeting, get a head count before printing
out documents so you don't end up with excessive extras.
- Use electronic means to transfer information. E-mail is very fast and efficient. You can send
documents, screen shots, quick notes, etc. through email. Do not print out e-mails to distribute them to
other employees! Just click on the Forward button on the e-mail that you would like to distribute and fill
in your To/CC lists with the people you would like to receive the message.
- Don't print out web pages. Instead of printing out a web page, send the address of the page via
email to the person you want to see it. Just click on the address so it becomes highlighted and go to
Edit - Copy. Then create an email and paste the URL in the message. This works for search engine results,
the intranet, news sites, the Web-ster forms, etc.
Tip: If the address is really long, go to tinyurl.com and paste
the address in to the box in and click the button. This will create a much smaller URL that's easy to email
and send to other people. (Copy and paste the new tiny address in to the email)
- Scan, don't photocopy. Did you know that the Canon multifunction copiers also act as black and
white scanners? Press the Send button on the screen on the front of the copier and then press E-mail. Type
in your e-mail address and then just copy the page like normal. This will send a PDF to your e-mail address.
Note: Want to know more about this procedure and the electronic features of the Canon printers? IKON
will be coming out to do Canon training next Wednesday. See your supervisor if you would like to attend.
Recycle, recycle, recycle.
Recycling is now even easier thanks to Sheri's distribution of the under desk recycling boxes.
Here we see Justin still throwing away his paper, unaware of the blissful ease and
satisfaction of recycling.
The
CTA Recycling Super Squad isn't happy about that.
But they set him straight.
Now everybody knows that recycling is
EASY and
FUN!
