Imail Server Welcome Messages

Question/Problem: Is it possible to change the SMTP and POP3 greeting line in IMail?

Answer/Solution: Yes, you can change the server welcome message for SMTP, POP3 or IMAP in the registry.

To change the message, create a new String Value named HelloMsg under this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ServerKey\Parameters\ where ServerKey = POP3D32, SMTPD32 or IMAP4D32. Set HelloMsg to the text you want displayed. The message must be 400 characters or less. If it is over 400 characters, the default welcome message is used instead. If APOP is enabled and the message plus the timestamp exceeds 400 characters, the message will be truncated. Note: changing the IMAP banner can break some IMAP mail clients.

Note: Replies will be formatted with PHP Markdown Extra syntax.
